Call for Papers: Future Forum 2013 - Responding to the Crisis? Challenges for Adult Education!

03.07.2013 - 05.07.2013
|
Innsbruck (Tirol)

Everybody is talking about the crisis - in the business world, in the banking and financial sectors and in politics. The Future Forum 2013 provides an international setting for reflecting on the complex phenomenon of "crisis” and should contribute to a better understanding of the development and consequences of crises. In practical terms, we will deal with questions concerning adult education and the crisis, such as

  • What are the challenges facing adult education today in times of crisis?
  • Is there really a crisis?
  • Who benefits from all the talk about the ever-present crises? What does this mean for adult education, lifelong learning, the working world and everyday life?

Call for Papers (CfP)

Panels will take place as part of the Future Forum. We invite you (Adult educators, program planners, educational staff, educational and social researchers) to submit (best practice) reports and inputs (e.g. reflections) pertaining to the topic. Presentations should last no longer than 20 minutes! The conference organisers will select the papers and make the assignments to the panels! Submissions will be accepted until 4 May 2013!

Please indicate the topic, a brief abstract and the kind of presentation on the application form. You will receive notice of acceptance from the conference organisers!

Questions for the CfP

  • What are the characteristic features of the current crises?
  • Who benefits from the rhetoric of crisis?
  • What do these diagnoses mean for the future of lifelong learning?
  • What contribution do adult education institutions make to managing the crises?
  • What competences do adult educators need in times of crisis?
